ik oa(n)kaar sathigur prasaadh ||
|
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
|
|
|
sa(n)gee jogee naar lapattaanee ||
|
The body-bride is attached to the Yogi, the husband-soul.
|
|
|
ourajh rehee ra(n)g ras maanee ||
|
She is involved with him, enjoying pleasure and delights.
|
ਕਿਰਤ ਸੰਜੋਗੀ ਭਏ ਇਕਤ੍ਰਾ ਕਰਤੇ ਭੋਗ ਬਿਲਾਸਾ ਹੇ ।।੧।।
|
kirath sa(n)jogee bheae eikathraa karathae bhog bilaasaa hae ||1||
|
As a consequence of past actions, they have come together, enjoying pleasurable play. ||1||
|
ਜੋ ਪਿਰੁ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਧਨ ਤਤੁ ਮਾਨੈ।।
|
jo pir karai s dhhan thath maanai ||
|
Whatever the husband does, the bride willingly accepts.
|
ਪਿਰੁ ਧਨਹਿ ਸੀਗਾਰਿ ਰਖੈ ਸੰਗਾਨੈ।।
|
pir dhhanehi seegaar rakhai sa(n)gaanai ||
|
The husband adorns his bride, and keeps her with himself.
|
ਮਿਲਿ ਏਕਤ੍ਰ ਵਸਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ
ਪਿ੍ਉ ਦੇ ਧਨਹਿ ਦਿਲਾਸਾ ਹੇ ।।੨।।
|
mil eaekathr vasehi dhin raathee prio dhae dhhanehi dhilaasaa hae ||2||
|
Joining together, they live in harmony day and night; the husband comforts his wife. ||2||
|
ਧਨ ਮਾਗੈ ਪਿ੍ਉ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਧਾਵੈ।।
|
dhhan maagai prio bahu bidhh dhhaavai ||
|
When the bride asks, the husband runs around in all sorts of ways.
|
|
|
jo paavai so aan dhikhaavai ||
|
Whatever he finds, he brings to show his bride.
|
ਏਕ ਵਸਤੁ ਕਉ ਪਹੁਚਿ ਨ ਸਾਕੈ
ਧਨ ਰਹਤੀ ਭੂਖ ਪਿਆਸਾ ਹੇ ।।੩।।
|
eaek vasath ko pahuch n saakai dhhan rehathee bhookh piaasaa hae ||3||
|
But there is one thing he cannot reach, and so his bride remains hungry and thirsty. ||3||
|
ਧਨ ਕਰੈ ਬਿਨਉ ਦੋਊ ਕਰ ਜੋਰੈ।।
|
dhhan karai bino dhooo kar jorai ||
|
With her palms pressed together, the bride offers her prayer,
|
ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਪਰਦੇਸਿ ਨ ਜਾਹੁ ਵਸਹੁ ਘਰਿ ਮੋਰੈ।।
|
pria paradhaes n jaahu vasahu ghar morai ||
|
"O my beloved, do not leave me and go to foreign lands; please stay here with me.
|
ਐਸਾ ਬਣਜੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਭੀਤਰਿ
ਜਿਤੁ ਉਤਰੈ ਭੂਖ ਪਿਆਸਾ ਹੈ ।।੪।।
|
aisaa banaj karahu grih bheethar jith outharai bhookh piaasaa hae ||4||
|
Do such business within our home, that my hunger and thirst may be relieved.""||4||
|
|
|
sagalae karam dhharam jug saadhhaa ||
|
All sorts of religious rituals are performed in this age,
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਸੁਖੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਨਹੀ ਲਾਧਾ।।
|
bin har ras sukh thil nehee laadhhaa ||
|
but without the sublime essence of the Lord, not an iota of peace is found.
|
ਭਈ ਕਿ੍ਪਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਸੰਗੇ
ਤਉ ਧਨ ਪਿਰ ਅਨੰਦ ਉਲਾਸਾ ਹੇ ।।੫।।
|
bhee kirapaa naanak sathasa(n)gae tho dhhan pir ana(n)dh oulaasaa hae ||5||
|
When the Lord becomes Merciful, O Nanak, then in the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, the bride and the husband enjoy ecstasy and bliss. ||5||
|
ਧਨ ਅੰਧੀ ਪਿਰੁ ਚਪਲੁ ਸਿਆਨਾ।।
|
dhhan a(n)dhhee pir chapal siaanaa ||
|
The body-bride is blind, and the groom is clever and wise.
|
|
|
pa(n)ch thath kaa rachan rachaanaa ||
|
The creation was created of the five elements.
|
ਜਿਸੁ ਵਖਰ ਕਉ ਤੁਮ ਆਏ ਹਹੁ
ਸੋ ਪਾਇਓ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਾ ਹੇ ।।੬।।
|
jis vakhar ko thum aaeae hahu so paaeiou sathigur paasaa hae ||6||
|
That merchandise, for which you have come into the world, is received only from the True Guru. ||6||
|
|
|
dhhan kehai thoo vas mai naalae ||
|
The body-bride says, ""Please live with me,
|
ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਸੁਖਵਾਸੀ ਬਾਲ ਗੁਪਾਲੇ।।
|
pria sukhavaasee baal gupaalae ||
|
O my beloved, peaceful, young lord.
|
ਤੂਝੈ ਬਿਨਾ ਹਉ ਕਿਤ ਹੀ ਨ ਲੇਖੈ
ਵਚਨੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਛੋਡਿ ਨ ਜਾਸਾ ।।੭।।
|
thujhai binaa ho kith hee n laekhai vachan dhaehi shhodd n jaasaa hae ||7||
|
Without you, I am of no account. Please give me your word, that you will not leave me"". ||7||
|
ਪਿਰਿ ਕਹਿਆ ਹਉ ਹੁਕਮੀ ਬੰਦਾ।।
|
pir kehiaa ho hukamee ba(n)dhaa ||
|
The soul-husband says, ""I am the slave of my Commander.
|
ਓਹੁ ਭਾਰੋ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਾਣਿ ਨ ਛੰਦਾ।।
|
ouhu bhaaro t(h)aakur jis kaan n shha(n)dhaa ||
|
He is my Great Lord and Master, who is fearless and independent.
|
ਜਿਚਰੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਤਿਚਰੁ ਤੁਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਹਣਾ
ਜਾ ਸਦੇ ਤ ਊਠਿ ਸਿਧਾਸਾ ਹੇ ।।੮।।
|
jichar raakhai thichar thum sa(n)g rehanaa jaa sadhae th oot(h) sidhhaasaa hae ||8||
|
As long as He wills, I will remain with you. When He summons me, I shall arise and depart.""||8||
|
ਜਉ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਬਚਨ ਕਹੇ ਧਨ ਸਾਚੇ।।
|
jo pria bachan kehae dhhan saachae ||
|
The husband speaks words of Truth to the bride,
|
ਧਨ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਸਮਝੈ ਚੰਚਲਿ ਕਾਚੇ।।
|
dhhan kashhoo n samajhai cha(n)chal kaachae ||
|
but the bride is restless and inexperienced, and she does not understand anything.
|
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਪਿਰ ਹੀ ਸੰਗੁ ਮਾਗੈ ਓਹੁ
ਬਾਤ ਜਾਨੈ ਕਰਿ ਹਾਸਾ ਹੇ ।।੯।।
|
bahur bahur pir hee sa(n)g maagai ouhu baath jaanai kar haasaa hae ||9||
|
Again and again, she begs her husband to stay; she thinks that he is just joking when he answers her. ||9||
|
|
|
aaee aagiaa pirahu bulaaeiaa ||
|
The Order comes, and the husband-soul is called.
|
|
|
naa dhhan pushhee n mathaa pakaaeiaa ||
|
He does not consult with his bride, and does not ask her opinion.
|
ਊਠਿ ਸਿਧਾਇਓ ਛੂਟਰਿ ਮਾਟੀ ਦੇਖੁ
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਿਥਨ ਮੋਹਾਸਾ ਹੇ ।।੧੦।।
|
oot(h) sidhhaaeiou shhoottar maattee dhaekh naanak mithhan mohaasaa hae ||10||
|
He gets up and marches off, and the discarded body-bride mingles with dust. O Nanak, behold the illusion of emotional attachment and hope. ||10||
|
ਰੇ ਮਨ ਲੋਭੀ ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ।।
|
rae man lobhee sun man maerae ||
|
O greedy mind - listen, O my mind!
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ਸਦੇਰੇ।।
|
sathigur saev dhin raath sadhaerae ||
|
Serve the True Guru day and night forever.
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਚਿ ਮੂਏ ਸਾਕਤ
ਨਿਗੁਰੇ ਗਲਿ ਜਮ ਫਾਸਾ ਹੇ ।।੧੧।।
|
bin sathigur pach mooeae saakath nigurae gal jam faasaa hae ||11||
|
Without the True Guru, the faithless cynics rot away and die. The noose of Death is around the necks of those who have no guru. ||11||
|

|
manamukh aavai manamukh jaavai ||
|
The self-willed manmukh comes, and the self-willed manmukh goes.
|
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਚੋਟਾ ਖਾਵੈ।।
|
manamukh fir fir chottaa khaavai ||
|
The manmukh suffers beatings again and again.
|
ਜਿਤਨੇ ਨਰਕ ਸੇ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਭੋਗੈ
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਲੇਪੁ ਨ ਮਾਸਾ ਹੇ ।।੧੨।।
|
jithanae narak sae manamukh bhogai guramukh laep n maasaa hae ||12||
|
The manmukh endures as many hells as there are; the Gurmukh is not even touched by them. ||12||
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੋਇ ਜਿ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਭਾਇਆ।।
|
guramukh soe j har jeeo bhaaeiaa ||
|
He alone is Gurmukh, who is pleasing to the Dear Lord.
|
ਤਿਸੁ ਕਉਣੁ ਮਿਟਾਵੈ ਜਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਪਹਿਰਾਇਆ।।
|
this koun mittaavai j prabh pehiraaeiaa ||
|
Who can destroy anyone who is robed in honor by the Lord?
|
ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਕਰੇ ਆਨੰਦੀ
ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਰਪਾਉ ਪਾਇਆ ਗਲਿ ਖਾਸਾ ਹੇ ।।੧੩।।
|
sadhaa ana(n)dh karae aana(n)dhee jis sirapaao paeiaa gal khaasaa hae ||13||
|
The blissful one is forever in bliss; he is dressed in robes of honor. ||13||
|

ho balihaaree sathigur poorae ||
|
I am a sacrifice to the Perfect True Guru.
|
ਸਰਣਿ ਕੇ ਦਾਤੇ ਬਚਨ ਕੇ ਸੂਰੇ।।
|
saran kae dhaathae bachan kae soorae ||
|
He is the Giver of Sanctuary, the Heroic Warrior who keeps His Word.
|
ਐਸਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ
ਵਿਛੁੜਿ ਨ ਕਤ ਹੀ ਜਾਸਾ ਹੇ ।।੧੪।।
|
aisaa prabh miliaa sukhadhaathaa vishhurr n kath hee jaasaa hae ||14||
|
Such is the Lord God, the Giver of peace, whom I have met; He shall never leave me or go anywhere else. ||14||
|
ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਮ ਨ ਪਾਈ।।
|
gun nidhhaan kishh keem n paaee ||
|
He is the treasure of virtue; His value cannot be estimated.
|
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਸਭ ਠਾਈ।।
|
ghatt ghatt poor rehiou sabh t(h)aaee ||
|
He is perfectly permeating each and every heart, prevailing everywhere.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਦੀਨ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ
ਹਉ ਰੇਣ ਤੇਰੇ ਜੋ ਦਾਸਾ ਹੇ ।।੧੫।।੧।।੨।।

naanak saran dheen dhukh bha(n)jan ho raen thaerae jo dhaasaa hae ||15||1||2||
|
Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of the Destroyer of the pains of the poor; I am the dust of the feet of Your slaves. ||15||1||2||
